Most of an AI integration is not modelling. It is deciding which endpoint gets called, what happens to the data on the way there, and who holds the thing afterwards.
The model is the easy part
Choosing between hosted and open weight takes an afternoon. Working out whether your data is allowed to leave the building takes longer, and it decides the first answer rather than the other way round.
The middleware is where the time goes. It has to speak your system's API, handle the cases the model gets wrong, and keep a record somebody can read six months later.
If nobody can say where the keys end up, you are buying a dependency rather than an integration.
